Tomato 'Azoychka' is an heirloom from Russia. The medium-sized yellow fruits weigh about 5 to 8 ounces. They have a citrusy flavor, which is most concentrated in the seed gel. The skin is somewhat tough, but with very ripe fruits, you can peel the skin without blanching first.
Azoychka was collected by Kent Whealy at the Bird Market in Moscow and introduced to the U.S. via the Seed Savers Exchange.
Sowing Tomato Seeds:
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date, 1/8 inch deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Plant tomatoes deep in the soil for a better root structure. Space 3 feet apart. Full sun.
