Tomato 'Amish Paste' has red oval-shaped fruits with thick skins that make them good for sauce and canning. This Amish heirloom has fruit that weighs about 8 ounces. It has a mild tomato flavor that is good for fresh eating as well as cooking. 
 
Sowing Tomato Seeds: 
 
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date, 1/8 inch deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Plant tomatoes deep in the soil for a better root structure. Space 3 feet apart. Full sun.
