Celery 'Redventure'

230 seeds. 100 days. Apium graveolens. Biennial in zone 6.

Celery 'Redventure' has flavorful red and pink stalks with dark green leaves. The stalks are smaller than the usual green celery you find at the grocery store. I used my harvest for making vegetable stocks and flavoring turkey. Redventure is a cross between Giant Red and Ventura and was introduced by Frank Morton in the 1990s.

You can make your own celery salt by letting your celery overwinter and go to seed. After you harvest the seeds, dry for a few weeks, and clean by blowing away the seed chaff. Grind the cleaned seeds in a spice grinder or with a mortar and pestle to make celery salt. This celery salt will be more flavorful than the pre-ground spice at the grocery store.

Spacing 10 inches apart.
