Squash 'Zapallito del Tronco' produces an abundance of round, green summer squashes. The fruits have smooth skin and texture and a mild flavor. They seem to cook faster than other summer squash I have tried. The 4 by 4-foot semi-bush plants are a delight to the eyes in their round habit. Also known as Zapallo del Tronco and Zapallitos de Tronco.
 
Fully mature fruits are unpalatable, but can be used to harvest seeds. To harvest the seeds from Zapallito del Tronco  smash mature fruits with a mallet, scoop out seeds, and wash seeds to remove pulp. Dry the seeds an a screen for a month or two and them store in a cool dry place.

Sowing Squash Seeds: 
 
Sow seeds outdoors after the last frost date in warm soil, 1 inch deep. Sow in hills spaced 4 feet apart. Thin to 2 plants per hill. Full sun.
