Squash 'Sucrine du Berry' has rustic pear-shaped fruits with tan skin and green striping. They weigh around 3 to 6 pounds. The flesh is orange, and the flavor is light and not sweet. It is best in recipes that call for pureed squash as the texture is reminiscent of spaghetti squash. It is quite watery as well, so no need to add water to the pan when baking it. 
 
This French heirloom is known for its good storage potential. Our harvest stored well for five months in dry conditions. At this point the seeds inside the squash start sprouting.

Sowing Squash Seeds: 
 
Sow seeds in hills 1 inch deep after the last frost date.  Space hills 4–6 feet apart. Thinned to 2 plants per hill. Full sun.
