20 seeds. 100 days. Cucurbita pepo. Annual.

Squash 'Sugar Pie' is the sweetest pumpkin we have ever tasted! It also has hint of floral essence to my tastebuds. Be prepared to have the best pumpkin pie and soup of your life. The texture is stringy, which is typical of pumpkins, but it's not a problem since you will be blending it up for recipes.

We just wish it was bigger. One fruit will yeld about 3 to 4 cups of flesh. The small orange pumpkins weigh 4 to 5 pounds. This 1863 American heirloom is stores well. We stored ours for 5 months under dry conditions.

Sowing Squash Seeds:

Sow seeds in hills 1 inch deep after the last frost date.  Space hills 4–6 feet apart. Thinned to 2 plants per hill. Full sun.

    Sweetest pumpkin ever!

I was reluctant to grow Sugar Pie pumpkin just because it's so common, and I'm a sucker for rare vegetables. But when I finally tried it, I was amazed at the flavor. It made the best pumpkin soup I've ever tasted!
