Basil 'Genovese' is our favorite basil for pesto each year. It is savory and mild. To prolong harvest, cut the flower stalks off as they grow. This Italian heirloom is a must-have for any Italian cooking calling for basil. You can also freeze the leaves for a taste of summer during the winter.

Sowing Basil Seeds: 
 
Sow basil indoors 6 weeks before the last frost date, 1/8 inch deep. Transplant 2 weeks after the last frost date. Or direct sow outside after there is no chance of frost. Thin to 10 inches apart. Full sun.
