Tomatillo 'Mountain Pima' has small fruits that average 3/4 inch in diameter. The purple-blushed, green fruits have a mild flavor that is less sweet than Grande Rio Verde. I find Mountain Pima tomatillo is best roasted before adding to recipes. The habit of the plant is reminiscent of ground cherries. This very rare tomatillo is from Western Chihuahua, Mexico. Very productive.
Height 3-4 feet. Spacing 30 inches.
Sowing Tomatillo Seeds:
Sow seeds indoors 7 weeks before the last frost date, 1/4 inch deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Space 30 inches apart. Full sun.
