Ethiopian Kale has green leaves with a medium mustard flavor. It is one of the fastest growing greens in spring. It hails from Africa and is more reminiscent of mustards or collards than true kale, which is Brassica oleracea. It is thought to be a cross between kale or cabbage with black mustard.
You can save your own seeds in a single season as Ethiopian Kale is an annual. Also, you can continue to eat the leaves even after it bolts. We enjoyed it raw and cooked. My mother likes to add it raw to her morning smoothie for a healthy kick. Also known as African cabbage, Highland Kale, and Abyssinian Mustard. Open-pollinated.

Sowing Kale Seeds:
Sow seeds outdoors 2–4 weeks before the last frost date to summer. Sow 1/4 inch deep. Full sun to part shade.
