Cucumber 'Long Green Improved' has a wonderful flavor and fine texture. The fruits are 10 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. We did not have any bitter cucumbers all season. This is my mom's favorite cucumber. This heirloom cucumber was introduced in 1842.
 
Sowing Cucumber Seeds: 
 
Sow seeds outdoors after the last frost date, 1/2 inch deep. Or start indoors 3 weeks before the last frost date. Sow in hills 4–6 feet apart or in rows 2 feet apart. Thin to 3 plants per hill. Full sun.
