Sweet Pea 'Matucana' is one of our favorite sweet peas. Surprisingly, the blue-purple and burgundy bi-color make it go well with almost anything. It is an old fashioned variety with a beautiful fragrance and self sows abundantly in our zone 5 garden. This old heirloom was originally from Sicily and was given the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2014.

Sowing Sweet Pea Seeds:
 
Nick sweet pea seed and soak overnight. Sow outdoors in early spring 1 inch deep and 3 inches apart. In the South, sow in the late fall. Full sun to part shade. Seeds are poisonous.
