Bean 'Cherokee Trail of Tears' (Pole)

40 seeds. 65-80 days.  Phaseolus vulgaris. Pole. Snap, dry bean.

 

Bean 'Cherokee Trail of Tears' has pink flowers that turn into 5-inch green pods. The young pods have strings, but still make a tasty snap bean. The dry beans are shiny black. This Native American heirloom is famous for being brought to Oklahoma by Dr. John Wyche's Cherokee ancestors on the Trail of Tears in 1838. Plants are productive.

 

Sowing Pole Bean Seeds:
 
Sow beans outdoors 2 weeks after the last frost date under a trellis. Sow 1 inch deep and 3 inches apart. Full sun.
