Squash 'Violina Rugosa Butternut'

20 seeds. 100 days. Cucurbita moschata. Annual.

If I only grew one squash variety a year it would be 'Violina Rugosa Butternut.' It is my top pick for best textured and taste in squash. The texture reminds me of a sweet potato and it isn't stringy like some squash. It is also drier than most squashes, so you rarely have to worry about draining it before adding to a recipe. It is sweet tasting right out of the oven with with butter and salt.

Violina Rugosa Butternut stores well for about 5 months in cool storage.

Sowing Squash Seeds:

Sow seeds in hills 1 inch deep after the last frost date.  Space hills 4–6 feet apart. Thinned to 2 plants per hill. Full sun.
