Nigella sativa has pale blue fowers, but the delight of this plant is the edible peppery seeds. The seeds are traditionally used in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking. The taste is reminicent of pepper or fennel. It is also known as Black Cumin, Black Seed, and Black Caraway. Nigela sativa is deer resistant.

Sow seeds outdoors in early spring or fall. Sow on the surface or barely cover the seeds with soil. Thin to 6 inches apart. Full sun.
