Mirabilis jalapa 'Broken Colors'

25 seeds. Four O' Clock. Tender perennial.

Mirabilis 'Broken Colors' is a mixture of stiped yellow, red, pink, and white flowers on tall bushy plants. The plants bloom in the evening and early morning. Also known as Four O'Clock and Marvel of Peru. Attracts Hummingbirds. Perennial in zone 8–10.

Mirabilis jalapa is a favorite for garden beds next to warm house foundations. It is a tender perennial grown as an annual in colder climates, but the roots can overwinter with warm conditions. We have a Mirabilis jalapa that comes back every year by root next to our house in zone 6.

Height 24 inches. Spacing 12 inches.

Sowing mirabilis jalapa seeds:

Soak seeds for 24 hours before planting. Sow outdoors after the last frost date, or start indoors 4 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/8 inch deep, barely covering the seeds.
